Texas Longleaf Implementation Team Takes Off Under Sanders
With leadership from newly-hired Coordinator, Jenny Sanders, the Texas Longleaf Implementation Team (TLIT) Working Groups hit the ground running following their February meeting. The following are updates from TLIT working groups.
Communications Working Group Decisions:
Working now to incorporate the name “Texas Longleaf Implementation Team” and the new logo into all communications.
New email platform, Mailchimp, adopted.
Goals to improve outreach to consulting foresters include formation of a subcommittee, which has developed a new, simple flyer for use in meetings and interactions with consulting foresters and other front-line service providers. It will be available for distribution soon.
Project Review Working Group decisions:
Streamlined funding application form and process developed to facilitate ease of participation. The TLIT will soon launch the new process with trainings for service providers. Preview the new process and form here.
Stewardship funds available! Please use the flyer above to help spread the word about the value of restoration and management of longleaf pine, AND the cost-share opportunities that exist. Turn-around time for project approval is usually less than two weeks, so it is not too late to apply for burning funds this year.
The next team meeting will be held in July, to address 1) project and accomplishment reporting, and 2) strategic planning for the coming year.
