Conservation Delivery in Working Ag Lands
In the Fall of 2019, the LA/MS MAV Conservation Delivery Network hosted its Turn-row Credibility Workshop II in Vicksburg, MS. The successful workshop was held on Oct 9-10 and included one day of classroom presentations and one day in the field. It was the second of its kind hosted by the CDN, the first held in Oct 2016 in Lake Providence, LA.
The training opportunity was designed for resource professionals at all levels of experience and intended to increase knowledge of working agricultural systems. A primary objective of the workshops is to strengthen successful communication and planning when working with farmers/landowners toward integrating on-farm conservation management. The classroom portion of the workshop incorporated a variety of informative topics including annual farm planning and a great overview of farm business decisions presented by a professional farm management consultant. It also included information relating to farm conservation planning, irrigation water management, and important things to consider about wetland policy.
The second day in the field included time to see, review, and discuss farm operations, with particular emphasis on irrigation water management. Information on the workshop, including the agenda and pdf’s of presentations, may be found at the LMVJV’s LA-MS CDN page.
